Individual Installation

This project explores the idea of how writing letters connects two places - Los Angeles and my hometown, Zhengzhou - and enabled me and my family to share our life.

Material: three-channel projector, suitcase, cloth

Documentation Video

The center video projection mapped into the suitcase is about me writing a giant letter on the floor. With the cloth stacked in the other half of the suitcase, my idea is that while I am far away from home, I use letters to get back to my safe place.

The two videos on the wall include my hometown’s environment and Los Angeles’ environment. When one is showing the night scene, the other is showing daytime, which implies the different time zones they’re in. The two videos are played synchronized using Lupa.
