Chameleon

Collaborated Immersive Environment With Christa Haryanto & Jess Bellamy
First Floor of Kaufman Building at USC
An immersive environment designed for USC DEI Arts Council's “Come As You Are” party. The theme of the party is inclusivity and diversity. We aim to make the installation a place where audiences could express their identity, thoughts, and feelings freely. Here, with the flowing colorful waterfall and portals that take you to attractive places, audiences could enjoy a photo time with their friends and families.
Material: one-channel projector
The idea of Chameleon comes from two thoughts. The first is that audiences could merge unobtrusively into the immersive environment, just like how chameleons live in nature. The second thought is that the color is changing just like chaneleons. They could adapt to all kinds of environments. We, as humans, need environments like chameleons that could include all kinds of people, which corresponds with the theme of diversity and inclusiveness.

Video Content
The entire projection was improvisational projection-mapped without the specific design of the shape and position of the portals. This video content shows the main video which Hanyu worked on.
